Anatomy 4 sculptors
Recently stumbled upon a Facebook page in-titled Anatomy 4 sculptors. Nice site with tons of reference for all CG artists for human anatomy! Check it out here.
Weta Digital’s Tissue system
Check out Weta Digital’s Tissue system video interview used to build muscles, skin, and fat for creatures in such films as Avatar, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Prometheus and The Hobbit: An Unexpected.
LBrush deformation
Check out this video by Joseph Alter. Very good demo of musculature using corrective sculpts.
P.S. Study of anatomy is very important to visualize the creation of realistic and believable deformation for any organic character. This video could be a great resource for that purpose. Yes all the goodness comes outside the box in this case.

Creation Platform: Muscle Simulation WIP
An overview of the new muscle system built with Creation Platform.
Old Spice Muscle Music
Pretty amazing how he controls the muscle contraction and spasm but also the video is a good reference for studying muscular deformation!
Massey vets consult with Weta Digital
Character setup at it’s best! Beautifully done.
Muscles update -01
Really nice muscular deformation demo by Paul smith.

Spiderman 3 Muscle and Skin Musculoskeletal Skinning ~ Eric Miller
The video showcases advance volume preserving deformation based on musculoskeletal pose space shape skinning system by Eric Miller.
“The core of the system used procedurally generated nurbs muscle primitives that were user controllable, had dynamic animation abilities, and input to deform geometry which was then layered with a non-linear blend-skinning algorithm that included coupling with radial basis function based pose space deformations, skin relaxation, and skin and fat jiggle. The system was used on Beowulf, Ghost Rider, Spiderman 3 and other productions.”
Eric mentions that this software was written before “Maya Muscle” and features superior functions which judging by the result looks awesome! None the less I really enjoyed the video and would surely love to try it out 😉
P.S. Awesome stuff Eric 😀
